Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation has a strong commitment to engaging citizens and stakeholders on issues relevant to community development. UREC regularly gathers leaders from across Louisiana and the nation to discuss the state of community development in areas such as affordable housing, economic development and education.

Baton Rouge Community Development Symposium

Advocacy 2Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation is host of the Baton Rouge Community Development Symposium. The symposium gathers leaders from across the state and nation to discuss community development in areas such as affordable housing, economic development and education.

The symposiums’ expert speakers present high levels of insight and provide solutions for pressing community development matters.

Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation ResearchLA BEST Statewide Coalition

In 2013, UREC launched the Louisiana Building Economic Security Together (LABEST) policy initiative. Involving partners from six of Louisiana’s major metropolitan areas, LABEST is building a diverse statewide coalition to advocate for social protection programs that help low-income families achieve economic stability.

LABEST partners are represented in the following regions: Baton Rouge (Capital Area); Greater New Orleans (Southeast); Lake Charles (Southwest); Alexandria (Central); Shreveport (Northwest) and Monroe (Northeast-Delta).
