Are you or someone you know in Baton Rouge paying more than half of your income on rent?
Would you be excited to host an acoustic concert in your living room with a nationally known musical act?

The Make Room campaign will be coming to Baton Rouge at the end of this month. We have lined up an exciting musical group to lend their voice to the important cause of ending America’s rental housing crisis.

Make Room is looking for an individual or family in Baton Rouge to tell their story. Specifically, they are looking for people who:

– Spend more than half of their income, before taxes, on rent and utilities
– Do not receive any current housing assistance
– Are willing to tell their story, using their real name, in a video documentary
– Are willing to host an intimate, acoustic musical show
Some background: To draw attention to the rental affordability crisis, Make Room has launched a series called Concerts for the 1st, in which well-known musicians are performing private living room concerts in the homes of struggling renters. You can see the films on Make Room’s YouTube channel or website.
Please let Make Room know why you or your nominee would be a great host for this special event.
Please make sure to include:
– Your name
– Phone number where you can be reached between now and Monday
– How much of your (or your nominee’s) income is spent on rent
– Neighborhood
– Details on the people living in your home
– A brief description of how spending so much on rent impacts you
– Any other challenges you’re facing or things we should take into account
