UREC Lock & Key Club graduate Therence M. with UREC’s Assistant Director Danielle Lartigue at Therence’s closing.
Therence M., an instrumentation and electrical Planner from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is now a proud homeowner thanks to his participation in Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation’s Lock & Key Homebuyers Club.
“I joined the program to gain more knowledge on the steps to take to purchase a house,” Therence shared. “That goal became a reality through UREC’s clear and supportive instruction. Everything was explained thoroughly, step by step.”
Therence received a $1,500 grant for closing cost assistance as a result of completing the Lock & Key program. He partnered with Rocket Mortgage to finance his home and officially closed on a spacious property featuring four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living area, a covered patio, and a workshop.
“It feels great to become a homeowner,” he said. Reflecting on the process, Therence emphasized the role his loved ones played, “Family pushed me when I wanted to stop.”
His advice to other first-time buyers: “Never give up and never settle for the first thing you see.”
UREC’s Lock and Key Homebuyers is a no-cost membership program that prepares individuals for homeownership. The program covers homebuyer readiness, banking and credit, financing a home, home selection, loan closing, and more.
