Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation (UREC), with support from Baton Rouge law firm, McGlinchey, is pleased to recognize Serenity Williams and Christopher Selders as the 2023 Ronnie Edwards Scholarship recipients.
Both Williams and Selders graduated from Baton Rouge area high schools in 2023 and successfully completed UREC’s youth development initiatives which prepare high school students for college and careers.
About the Scholars
- Serenity Williams is an alumna of UREC’s Pre-Law Institute, which is offered in partnership with Southern University Law Center. She graduated from Madison Preparatory Academy with a 4.37 grade point average. Williams is studying business management and marketing at Southern University and A & M College.
- Christopher Selders is an alumnus of UREC’s Pre-Law and CompTIA IT institutes. He graduated from Episcopal High School with a 3.7 grade point average. Selders is currently enrolled at Morehouse College where he is studying film studies and computer science.
The Ronnie Edwards Scholarship is an annual award that honors the memory and legacy of UREC founder and community leader Ronnie Edwards who established UREC’s youth development programs while advancing the organization’s vision of “Building Today’s Communities for Tomorrow.”
In 2023, McGlinchey partnered with UREC to offer a scholarship to a UREC Pre-Law Institute graduate.
