UREC is Developing New Neighborhoods in North Baton Rouge

Since 1992, Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation has been fulfilling its mission of transforming communities by investing in people and restoring neighborhoods. The evidence and impact of UREC’s work can be seen across a three to five-mile radius in North Baton Rouge where UREC activated three of four new neighborhood developments in 2023.

UREC President & CEO Carl Dillon said, “UREC is laser-focused on providing quality housing opportunities that will transform North Baton Rouge while providing families with viable homeownership and housing opportunities that they can afford. We are equally committed to preparing families for homeownership and continue to collaborate with community and banking partners to advance our community development work.”

In 2023, UREC constructed the Foster Oaks and Satinwood Grove neighborhoods—adding 22 new, quality, and affordable homes to  North Baton Rouge’s footprint.

Newer initiatives are being developed along the Hollywood Street and Winchester Avenue corridors. The Hollywood Garden project will create eight single-family homes for homeownership. At approximately 1,764 square feet, each home will feature 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, contemporary finishes, and modern design.

UREC is also developing two and a half acres of land along Winchester Avenue into an affordable neighborhood.

UREC’s prior community developments in Baton Rouge include Urban Garden, Urban Garden Senior Village, and ongoing home rehabilitation initiatives, which have been instrumental in providing new construction and affordable housing solutions for first-time homebuyers, grandparents raising grandchildren, and households with low to moderate incomes.

Additionally, UREC provides extensive and free homebuyer education through seminars and the Lock & Key Homebuyer Club to prepare individuals for homeownership.

With the support of strong community partnerships, UREC has developed more than 140 single and multi-family affordable housing units.
