UREC Hosts Paid IT & Entrepreneurship Training for High School Students in Baton Rouge Area

Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation’s (UREC) College & Career Ready initiative will host paid summer training initiatives geared towards preparing high school students in Baton Rouge for entrepreneurship or IT careers.

The CompTIA IT Training & ACT Prep will take place June 1 – July 16, 2021 with online and in person learning opportunities.  This hands-on, technology and career focused initiative prepares high school students to earn industry-based CompTIA IT certification, while teaching leadership development and ACT readiness. The training is offered in partnership with East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) and prepares youth for the ACT test scheduled for July 17. Participants can earn a stipend upon successful completion of all program requirements, and there is no cost to participate. The IGNITE Entrepreneurship Institute & ACT Prep will take place online June 1 – July 22, 2021. The institute offers interactive learning experiences that provide high school students with entrepreneurship training, ACT preparation, financial literacy, and communication skills development. Participants will also earn a stipend and Micro-Enterprise credentials upon successful completion of all program requirements. IGNITE is offered in partnership with Southern University College of Business and prepares youth for the ACT test scheduled for July 17. There is no cost to participate.
