Join Our Team: (High School) Program Development Coordinator – AmeriCorps

In partnership with Serve Louisiana, Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation (UREC) is currently recruiting one AmeriCorps position to serve in its Youth Programs division for their elementary school site. The corps member will contribute to the elementary afterschool and summer programs by building capacity in the areas of effective academic and enrichment program implementation. Corps members serve full time for 11 months starting September 1st. About the Corps Member Experience: 
Corps members serve 40 hours a week from September 1, 2018-July 31, 2019 with a community-based organization providing capacity-building activities such as volunteer coordination, program development, social media/technology coordination, and community outreach. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective implementation of academic and enrichment programming, and where applicable, update programming efforts based on evaluation data from prior years
  • Support student recruitment efforts for the program and the creation of corresponding recruitment materials and collateral
  • Support the cultivation of relationships with potential community partners/volunteers/guest speakers and maintain existing ones
  • Recruit and manage volunteers
  • Create volunteer position descriptions
  • Create volunteer training curriculum
  • Train volunteers
  • Set-up (design, implement) systems to track and manage volunteers and volunteer hours
  • Supervise and communicate timely with volunteers
  • Organize reward celebrations of volunteers
  • Provide day-to-day program operations for the elementary school programs
  • Ensure safe arrival/dismissal of and overall learning environment for students
  • Ensure materials/supplies/room necessary for program are ready and available
  • Ensure documentation for student and staff sign in/sign out is recorded and submitted
  • Work collaboratively with all site personnel to address day to day situations that come up and inform supervisor of any problems
  • Support the evaluation of the pilot programs’ effectiveness (e.g., surveys, focus groups, advisory board) and identify areas for improvement
