The Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) and long distance runners Walker Higgins, Jason Jeffirs and Ryan Cope recently partnered to donate 20 computers to the Baton Rouge Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Information Center of Louisiana, which offers support and information to grandparents and kinship caregivers. Through the partnership, the athletes held the “Rule 110+1” race to raise funds for families in need of computers and leveraged resources by partnering with CACRC, which provides recycled computers to various families and organizations.
In 1994, UREC partnered with the Grandparents Information Center to establish Louisiana’s first Grandparent’s House at UREC’s Urban Villa apartment community. UREC continues to sponsor this initiative and partner with the center, which is currently located at Urban Villa. To learn more, visit www.lagrg.org.
